Vice President of Engineering

Raleigh, NC or remote

UserVoice is looking for a Vice President of Engineering to assist our outstanding team of engineers, continue to deliver excellent service to our customers, and to help us deliver innovative new products.

Our product and engineering team uses ShapeUp as a methodology to plan, refine, and deliver improvements to our systems. Even though we are SOC 2 Type II certified, we move fast without burning the candle from both ends.

Ideal candidates have a strong technical background, excellent skills in enabling smart people to do their best work while helping them grow their careers, and the desire to help move a company forward in areas beyond technology.

Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box. So if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single point on the job description, please still get in touch. We'd love to have a chat and see if you could be a great fit. (Thanks to our friends at CultureAmp who came up with this statement – it’s too good and too important to not repeat).

You'll be responsible for:

  • Delivery of improvements in our product offerings
  • The overall uptime and deliverability of our services (we have an outstanding infrastructure team behind it)
  • Career growth, management, and staffing of our team of excellent technologists
  • Continued compliance with our SOC 2, GDPR, and other legal requirements
  • Managing the budget for the engineering team

Things you may be curious about:

  • Our product is fully containerized with Docker and runs on the Google Cloud Platform. We use Go, Ruby on Rails, React, Angular, and MySQL among other technologies
  • We get a lot done with a team of about a dozen engineers
  • Our team is mostly in Raleigh, NC, but have been hiring more and more remote team members
  • We hire people who think, not people who take orders. So you’ll get a lot of creative involvement; we love that people apply their smarts beyond just software development

Curious? Send us a resume or your LinkedIn profile, along with a little bit about you and what has you interested in this job. We’d love to chat.

Please, no recruiters. Individual candidates only.

UserVoice welcomes all the ways that you are different.
